Day Spa or Beauty Salon - Thoughts from a Day Spa Fan
30/10/11
Everyone loves to be pampered. For most ladies that can include the wonderful treatments at a Day Spa; a facial, a full body massage, body scrub, manicure, pedicure - the works. Visiting a Day Spa is the ultimate in pampering, but have you ever wondered just what is the difference between a Day Spa and a Beauty Salon? After all, unless you book yourself in for the ultimate pampering packages which includes all the trimmings of nails, waxing, hair, body, etc, you really don’t spend the entire day at a Day Spa - or do you?
In my experience, of which is sadly limited, a visit to the Day Spa can take up a full day of pampering; stripping down to your underwear, a warm and incredibly soft robe, a pair of over sized slippers, towels galore, green tea, lots of water and the soft aroma of those lovely relaxing oils and incense. Bliss!
On the other hand, my expectations when visiting a Beauty Salon is somewhat different. I’d expect manicures, pedicures and waxing but I’d also expect to be able to have a hairdresser style my hair and perhaps be able to review my makeup colours and looks. I don’t think I’d expect to be baring it all and wondering from room to room in a robe.
Finding a salon that does it all can be a challenge, but once you discover the style, services and atmosphere you enjoy, its worth settling in and enjoying it for as long as you can.
That’s how I came across The Ephraim Spa, Island Day Spa on the Gold Coast. As soon as you walk in the door there’s a feeling of relaxation and ultimate luxury. I could quite happily spend hours relaxing in the beautiful relaxation room, looking out over the Broadwater, let alone the gorgeous treatment rooms - I couldn’t have wanted for anything more.
On my first Day Spa experience at The Ephraim Spa, I was treated to the ultimate in body treatments, a head to toe extravaganza of massage and moisturisers - wonderful. I then had some time to chill in my robe with a magazine and a hot herbal tea and of course, plenty of water, before being escorted into another treatment room to have my toes and feet treated to a pedicure. Then came the manicure, I’m not sure which one I preferred, they were both just so enjoyable.
Walking out of this beautiful Gold Coast Day Spa after a number of treatments, I felt so relaxed and rejuvenated that I made a promise to myself there and then to make this a regular event. That morning I had walked into the day spa feeling stressed and slightly anxious; that afternoon I walked out feeling a million dollars. The hours had drifted past and I’d enjoyed every moment of it, something I’d highly recommend to anyone.
So my day spa experience was fantastic and now The Ephraim Spa is about to open their second salon which will be more focused as a Beauty Salon with all the waxing, hair, makeup and body treatments. The location, the Evergreen Centre will mean ease of access for many business people, so dropping in for a quick treatment during my lunch break will give me a little taste of luxury during a busy work day. I still plan to have my full day spa experience every month or so at The Ephraim Island Day Spa and in the meantime I’ll be popping into The Ephraim Spa Evergreen Centre for ease of time and location to take advantage of their great treatments and facilities.
Oh, what a taste of luxury - a little taste of The Ephraim Spa, Day Spa Gold Coast.
